I am primarily interested in how galaxies have evolved throughout the history of the Universe, both in terms of their luminous stellar properties as well as their more elusive gas, dust, and dark matter content. I use a combination of observations from deep galaxy surveys and the spectra of distant quasars to shed light on these questions.
I enjoy designing outreach programs and activities that aim to introduce the concepts and techniques of modern astronomy to the next generation of scientists. I am particularly interested in providing targeted educational programming to under-served groups of students and creating web-based activities using the Sloan Digital Sky Survey database.
